Rescue
Diver
Few scuba courses are more valuable or more fun
than Rescue Diver. There are 3 parts to completing
this certification: Academics, Pool Skill/Surface Skills and Underwater
Problem Solving skills.
- Academics: "Kamikaze
Rescue" Instead of committing to several nights in the
classroom, we combine all 5 sessions into one day. Students read
and complete Knowledge Reviews at home and attend one classroom
session.
Next class is Saturday MARCH 17, 9a-3p at
store
- Pool Skills/Surface Skills:
This part of the course deals with rescue scenarios on the surface.
Scenarios include how to help a tired diver; methods for assisting a
distressed diver; the use of floatation devises; assisting an unconscious
diver at the surface and more. Next session - Tues March 27, 7-9p at
Rahway YMCA
- Underwater Problem Solving: This is
an opportunity for divers to respond to different situations that they might
encounter while diving such as entanglement, panic, out of air, and
unresponsive diver. This open water session include an opportunity
to assist in a simulated missing diver scenario. Next
session TBD
This is NOT a Life-Saving course, but the
information gained can save your life... or your
buddy's.
Prerequisite: Academic and Pool
skills - Open Water
Underwater scenarios - AOW
Academic material: $37
book $29 DVD
Course tuition: $70 per
session
Those participating in Rescue
Diver receive $20 discount off EFR course

Note from Jim...
Ocean Explorers has always held a conservative diving practices
by stressing safe diving through the use of good equipment, education
and practice. It is my personal opinion that you are not a true "Diver" until
you own your own equipment, know how to use it properly and have achieved a
Rescue Diver rating.
Deep Diver
Specialty
Although any dive that exceeds 60 ft is considered a
"deep dive", through a combination of classroom and training dives, this
course expands diving skills and knowledge allowing divers to plan no
decompression dives to the recreational limit of 130ft. Deep Diver
Specialty is your "Passport" to exploring a new
world of diving possibilities. For those satisfied with staying a
little shallower, don't disregard this course. The information and
skills learned are applicable to ALL dives.
- Academics: Easily completed by book/DVD and
reviewed in one classroom session.
- Dives: 4 dives - each dive addresses
one task per dive
Prerequisite: AOW, 15 yrs old, approx 30 logged
dives
Academic
material: Book/DVD $59
Course
tuition: $125 (Processing fee $25 Classroom
session $20 Training dives $20
per dive)
Nitrox Specialty
The Nitrox (Enriched Air)
Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty course, and it’s easy to
see why. Scuba diving with enriched air gives you more no decompression
dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on
repetitive dives. This is the entry-level
certification course for recreational divers wishing to utilize Nitrox (EAN) as
a breathing gas. The objective of this course is to train divers in the
benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using Nitrox mixes from twenty two
(22) to forty (40) percent oxygen content.
Prerequisite: 15 yrs
old
Course
tuition:$125 Book/DVD $85
Requirements: One classroom session and optional training dives
(2dives). Training dives may be omitted, but are highly recommended
and are easily combined
with other
specialty dives.
